The Craft Bud Alliance is all about the the craft growing community. We want to be a conduit for thoughtful conversation around how you can be a craft bud grower and monetize it legally. There are states that are legalizing the recreational use of marijuana which is great for the industry, and we believe the other states will follow. Where does that leave the local craft grower? How do they participate in this ecosystem?
Currently there is no clear path to doing so. We understand that there is a lot of gray area as much of this is uncharted territory. But we believe this is the next phase of the industry. It’s great that this is now legal recreationally in multiple states but now the consumer needs to have choices as well as distributors and retailers. Think about the craft beer industry today. Some of the best and most exciting beers are coming out of craft brewers bringing their passion to the people and having a clear path to doing so. Why can’t craft growers do the same? The benefits of this we see are;
Taxes for the government
Currently 80% of marijuana consumption is not being taxed and being sold off market. By creating a market where more people can enter you will have more opportunity to tax.
Create more farming jobs
Much like the craft beer industry has done, the craft bud industry will do as well. More people producing creates more farming jobs which has been a staple of the country for over a 100 years.
When there are more choices the consumer always wins. Make it easier to provide more choices to the industry.
Currently there are retailers running out of product or not having a certain amount of product available because of demand. That should never happen. That is missed revenue for the state on down to the retailers.
Avoid a monopoly and price fixing
Although we have come a long way from where we were there is still a long way to go. The system is in its current form is supporting overpriced consumption and forcing off market consumption. With more competition prices will come down and create a fair market.
